Between Sibiu and Sighisoara
The region between Sibiu/Hermannstadt and Sighisoara/Schäßburg, formed by the Secaşe, Hârtibaci, and Târnava Plateaus, charms visitors with many preserved medieval towns, such as Sibiu/Herrmannstadt, Mediaş/Mediasch, and Sighişoara/Schäßburg, with several fortified churches in the rural areas. The churches in Valea Viilor/Wurmloch and Biertan/Birthälm are even inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
There is a striking contrast between the urban areas on one hand and the country on the other, where time seems to have stood still since the 19th century.
