Podişul Hârtibaciului/Hârtibaci Plateau
Hârtibaci Plateau/Podişul Hârtibaciului/Hortobágy Dombsága is a hilly terrain in the southern part of Transylvania. The name of the region derives from the Hârtibaciu River (German: Harbach), which has its source here and flows across the plateau. Most of the Transylvanian Saxons who originally inhabited the area having left, it is now populated primarily by Romanians and a growing number of Roma. The main characteristics of the Podişul Hârtibaciului/Hârtibaciu Plateau are the former Saxon towns and villages with their fortified churches, as well as the ample pastures, hay meadows, and orchards at the outskirts of the villages.
